WINTER LAS VEGAS CES '99

Welcome everyone to our second JPS Labs show report. As usual, we are reporting on all rooms which were JPS'd, so com'mon in...

HIGH-ENDERS HOME AWAY FROM HOME- ALEXIS PARK- May I suggest getting some good beers on tap for next show?     The Alexis Park Resort

We all met for another year of fun in the sun in Las Vegas, showing off our latest and greatest high-end goods. All 4 show days offered great weather, cold subs, and many chances to go out with the boys; see exhibit 'A' below...

Can you guess which one of these guys is hiding his bloodshot eyes???

From Right to left, Ken of Audio Max, Gilbert of Blue Circle, Bobby of Merlin, and Audiophile Man?

Just so everyone on the East coast who did not attend the show is jealous, I made sure to take a picture poolside to show you what you were missing. Many of us barely made it due to bad snow storms in the east, and my home town of Buffalo was no slouch in this department. Even on the way back home many were detained as snow kept coming near the lakes. My wife was kind enough to take pictures so I knew all of the fun I had missed out on:). Talk about contrast...

One of the pools near our room. Believe it or not Steve 'Wild Man' Rochlin is in there...    Like it's going to melt before I get back...

Well, it's on to the show...

Let's start with our room, where JPS Labs was showing with Gershman Acoustics. As usual, we once again made beautiful music together, and with the help of both Classe Audio amplification and a Resolution Audio 96/24 2-piece CD/DVD player, we held a great hand.

I bought both a Sara K and a sampler on Chesky, and had to wait for the show to hear what they might sound like (you must have a DVD or 96/24 player to play these new CD's, otherwise they are only cool to look at...). WOW!!! This is must have territory...

Resolution player and Classe preamp on a Lovan rack.             The Mighty Classe Amp.

You simply must hear this stuff in the new format. Details jump out at you like never before, and the more resolving the system, the better it is. This 96 KHz thing I like a lot, and hope more new recordings come out in this format for us wanting audiophiles.

Gershman X-1 with the new optional matching sub.         Our room...

The whole system was wired with JPS Labs' best Superconductor 2 cables, the full compliment being a 0.75 meter RCA pair from the Resolution DAC to the Classe preamp, and an 8.0 meter Balanced to the amp. Speaker cables were an 8 Ft. pair of Superconductor 2, NC Series. A full compliment of JPS Labs Digital, Analog, and POWER AC cords were used throughout. "It simply does not get any better than this", says a modest manufacturer...

Gershman Avantgardes in our second system...    Joule Electra Stereo amp

Just in case the above was not enough to please the savage beast in you, we modified the bedroom into a Den, complete with room treatment via a matress and boxspring (which BTW worked very well thanks). The system was wired with our new lowest cost Ultra Conductor cables, which proved a blessing as a dealer bought the speakers and the cables on the spot. Very nice sound at a respectable price, no doubt. Jud from Joule Electra was gracious enough to loan us the use of his newly tubed stereo amp, which topped off the system in every way. Thanks Jud!!!

THE RESOLUTION AUDIO ROOM

The Resolution Room...

Since these guys were nice enough to let us use their latest player, I figured, what the hell, lets do it up with JPS Superconductor 2. As Mike from Resolution Audio had said, everyone was enjoying the sound from this room. Taking a minimalist approach by using their player (with built-in remote volume control) to directly drive the amp, this system sounded very sweet. We also appreciated the great sound that their CD player can supply as a source. Nice stuff guys!!!

THE MEADOWLARK AUDIO ROOM

The Meadowlark Audio Room.         My Grandma, what a big bird you have there...

Onto the next room, as I am sure you are all yawning at all this talk about cables. Meadowlark Audio was showing their new Nightingales, at a retail of about $15 kiloscoots (that's thousands of US dollars for those who never saw 'The Flintstones'). The first pair of their kind, they hope to have many offspring. Pat from Meadowlark, after the show, said that they are off to a good start, and after hearing these bad boys, you would understand. JPS Labs Superconductor 2 cables and power cords throughout...

AXCESS MARKETING AND JPS

Our humble display at the Hilton at the Lovan/Axcess booth.         Axcess/Lovan/JPS at the Las Vegas Hilton

JPS is proud to announce a new alliance. Axcess Marketing, distributors of Lovan fine furniture, is now JPS Labs' exclusive US distributor, bringing our fine cables and accessories within arms reach for many more to enjoy. This year will bring many new products to our customers, and Axcess Mktg. promises to make it easier than ever to find them nearby.

A special thanks to Classe Audio, Resolution Audio, Lovan Furniture, and Joule Electra for the use of their fine products which helped to make our show a success.

Take care everyone, and hope you come and visit us at HIFI 99 in Chicago in June. Make it a plan...

Have a happy 1999...   Joe Skubinski - JPS Labs
